Do you offer video/online sessions?

Yes, if you cannot make it to the office, sessions can be conducted through a secure video platform. This is a great option when you’re not feeling well, you’ve moved out of the area… or there’s a global pandemic. Since our licenses are in Minnesota, we can only see you if you are still located within the state.

What is your COVID-19 policy?

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 24 hour notice if you need to cancel your appointment. This is mostly so that we can offer that time to someone else who might want it. If you do not cancel within that time or do not show for the appointment, you will be charged a $50 cancelation fee.

*This fee is waived for any client with a Medical Assistance insurance plan. However, we still expect a 24 hour notice and if this is continually not respected your provider can chose to end services or make other arrangements, as appropriate.

*Fees are waived for COVID like symptoms: fever, cough, etc

How long will we work together?

It depends! All of our therapists have different styles and each client has unique needs. One thing we all agree on is change takes consistency and time. If you are willing/able to come consistently then you will be in therapy for less time. We will figure out a treatment plan that works for you.

The amount of time each session lasts also varies. If you are using insurance it will depend on what your insurance covers, which is typically a 53 minute session. Otherwise, we will figure out what works best for your schedule.

Can I add you on social media?

It is our policy to not connect with clients on social media. Arden Shores does have social media accounts that you are welcome to follow, however, we will not follow you back. Also, if you choose to respond or share our posts our policy is to pretend you are not a client. This is important to us to protect your privacy, remain ethical, and keep the relationship therapeutic.

What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. This type of therapy is different than “talk therapy” and is designed to help people recover from distressing life experiences.

EMDR helps our brain process traumatic memories more effectively. It helps us “rewire” or “clean up” our brain. The therapy helps put the traumatic memory into our positive memory network. You can still recall the memories, but they no longer give you the same emotional reactions.

EMDR is for everyone of any age! We all have distressing memories that would be helpful to re-process. This therapy is extensively researched and proven to help people recover from PTSD, anxiety, depression, panic disorders, phobias, abuse, grief, and physical injury. You can learn more here.

What is Play Therapy?

Play therapy is recommended with children age 12 and younger. Children often have difficulty verbalizing what they are thinking and feeling with the adults around them. Play therapy uses the therapeutic powers of play to help children work through their psychosocial difficulties in a manner that is developmentally appropriate. Play therapy can also include creating art and play in the sand trays.

What is Sand Tray Therapy?

Sand tray therapy is a technique which can be used to facilitate healing in adults, adolescents, and children, allowing them to express their thoughts and feelings when words alone are not enough. Sand tray uses symbolic representation with miniature figures which are chosen and arranged in the sand by the client. The therapist uses questions and statement to guide the client through the process.
